Overview
Conservative Kidney Management Summit: Advancing Knowledge and Practice is a course designed to provide physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, chaplains, and other health care professionals with the information and skills needed to provide high quality conservative kidney management (CKM) to patients in a variety of practice settings.
Taught by leading nephrology faculty from across the HMS network, the teaching and learning at the CKM summit will build the knowledge base and deliver actionable insights for individual clinicians and clinical teams caring for nephrology patients in a wide range of settings. The CKM summit will review evidence related to survival and symptoms of seriously ill patients who choose CKM over dialysis for kidney failure. It will highlight the patient and caregiver experience in CKM and emphasize the inter-professional team approach for providing high quality CKM in diverse health systems. In addition to intensive plenary sessions and interactive breakout sessions, learners can enjoy opportunities to engage informally with one another and with course faculty.
Breakout sessions will include building on communication skills for discussing kidney failure treatment options; non-dialytic uremic symptom management; and program development: How to deliver and measure high quality CKM.
