Overview

Women’s health is shaped by complex biological, hormonal, and systemic factors, yet it is often addressed through fragmented narratives and wellness trends that lack clinical depth. Despite decades of research, this oversimplification can make it difficult to access credible, evidence-based guidance and to make informed decisions that support long-term health and well-being.

The Women’s Health and Wellness Program from Harvard Medical School Executive Education is a six-week online program that offers a rigorous, science-driven exploration of women’s health. Led by an all-women team of Harvard Medical School faculty and renowned physicians, the program bridges clinical science with everyday wellness through self-paced modules, live sessions, and a capstone project. Participants examine the interconnected science of hormonal, cardiovascular, brain, and emotional health and gain practical, evidence-based strategies to critically evaluate health claims, strengthen long-term wellness, and advance women’s health for themselves, their clients, and their communities.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize women’s health changes in midlife and beyond.
  • Apply strategies to address hormonal, cardiovascular, and mental health challenges.
  • Utilize cutting-edge tools for personalized care.
  • Support women’s well-being through preventive and lifestyle strategies.

Who Should Participate

Health coaches, clinicians, wellness professionals, corporate wellness leaders, entrepreneurs, and women navigating midlife who seek credible, evidence-based frameworks to understand women’s health and translate scientific insights into practical strategies supporting hormonal, mental, sexual, and long-term well-being.

Modules

Gain a foundational understanding of the key biological, hormonal, and social factors that influence women’s health across life stages. Explore how sex- and gender-informed perspectives advance prevention, diagnosis, and care, shaping healthier outcomes throughout life.

Reframe menopause as a phase of health optimization and advanced management. Examine menopause symptoms, related physiological changes, and therapeutic options — including the latest thinking on hormone therapy and non-hormonal alternatives — and explore strategies to improve menopause care delivery and long-term well-being.

Explore the cardiovascular implications of the menopause transition and the unique risk factors that affect women before, during, and after midlife. Understand sex-based differences in cardiovascular disease, and apply evidence-based strategies for prevention and risk reduction to promote heart health.

Examine key aspects of gynecological and sexual health as women age. Understand sexual well-being across life stages, including genitourinary syndrome of menopause and vulvovaginal health. Learn to identify common midlife conditions and apply evidence-based approaches that support long-term wellness.

Understand how sex-based biological and hormonal differences affect brain health and cognitive aging. Review emerging research on the risks and protective factors for dementia and practical strategies to build cognitive resilience during midlife and later years.

Examine the hormonal, psychological, and social factors that influence women’s mental health across life stages. Explore how hormonal changes, trauma, stress, work-life balance, and sleep intersect with mental well-being, and learn evidence-based approaches to strengthen resilience and emotional health over time.

Other Key Components

The program concludes with an applied capstone project that helps you turn evidence-based insights into action. You will choose a pathway that aligns with your goals: designing a real-world solution in women’s health or menopause care, applying frameworks to your professional practice, or creating a personal health plan to improve midlife well-being.

Each project encourages reflection and practical application, allowing you to connect science with real-world impact.
