Overview

The point-of-care ultrasound experts at Massachusetts General Brigham, Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Emergency Ultrasound invite you to Boston! This course provides an overview of POCUS and reviews the evidence behind the major applications used in emergency and critical care medical practice.

The course provides two days of combined lecture and bedside hands-on instruction using live models. The student-to-faculty ratio is never more than 4:1 to ensure an optimal hands-on experience. Students will receive training in both image acquisition and image interpretation. Case presentation will be employed to solidify the clinical integration of findings. In addition to diagnostic POCUS, procedural skills such as ultrasound-guided central/peripheral venous access, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and nerve blocks will be covered. Specific topics include:

  • Physics and Knobology
  • Lung Ultrasound
  • FAST exam and ultrasound in trauma

This is the best CME I have ever had! It will definitely change the way I practice as a primary care internist.

The hands-on experience was amazing.

I feel more empowered to expand the use of ultrasound in my clinical practice in the ED.

Best CME course I ever attended at HMS.
