Dr. Katherine Rosa co-directed the Stress Management and Resiliency Training Program at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to her retirement in 2026. She remains an active member of the department as a researcher, focusing on burnout prevention and resiliency amount advanced practice providers.
Dr. Rosa also serves as an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Part-time, at Harvard Medical School teaching mind-body medicine skills. Prior to her work at Benson-Henry Institute, she had extensive clinical experience in family practice and was Co-Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Master’s in Nursing Program at UMass Lowell. Additionally, she is a long-time practitioner and recognized teacher of Therapeutic Touch®, a human energy field therapy. She has extensive experience teaching individuals and groups on meditation, resiliency strategies, and the practice of Therapeutic Touch®.
Dr. Rosa’s research interest is on understanding how nurse-patient relationship dynamics improve healing and wellbeing in persons living with chronic illness. Her model on healing and personal transformation in chronic illness won an international award from the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She has published articles of her original research works in peer-reviewed journals. In 2022, her work on developing and psychometrically evaluating the Patients’ Perception of the Nurse-Patient Relationship as Healing Transformations (RELATE) Scale earned an Honorable Mention Award at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Clinical Research Day.
