Overview

This will be an online course on valvular heart disease - diagnosis, imaging and management both as structural and surgical management. This course is very much needed as there is significant variation in clinical practice around the world but also rapid development of new devices and interventions in the field of structural heart disease. Massachusetts General Brigham sets the standards of excellence for good clinical practice and it is a great opportunity to host an online course with the latest evidence and clinical guidance on valvular heart disease. While there are many in person meetings, these are not well attended cause nowadays people are unable to travel that often because of the cost and also these meetings are expensive therefore colleagues from low-mid income countries are unable to attend. We decided to have this online course after multiple meetings with Dr. O'Gara and Shah and we feel it is an investment for Massachusetts General Brigham and Harvard Medical School  and there will be great revenue.

Learning Objectives

  • Define the key imaging modalities for each valve and pathology.
  • Identify structural procedures including potential complications.
  • Analyze better infective endocarditis: indications for surgical management, how to escalate imaging.
