About
Andi Cooley is transforming health care in underserved populations by leveraging AI through disruptive ecosystem strategies. A cardiothoracic surgeon and senior academic health leader, she has built a career at the intersection of clinical practice, medical education, and healthcare innovation.
Andi's work is driven by a passion for rural and underserved communities, translating her clinical and leadership expertise into a mission to bring better care to the people who need it most. As founding leadership at the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, serving as Assistant Dean of Clinical Experience and Associate Professor of Medical Education, she applies innovative approaches to train the next generation of physicians. As a surgeon, she has worked across the full continuum of cardiovascular care in the resource-constrained rural environments where the need is greatest.
Andi is a Harvard Macy Institute scholar across its programs for Educators, Leaders, and Systems, and now serves as faculty for the Program for Leading Innovations in Health Care and Education. The combination of her real-world experience with the education and insights gained through Harvard Macy shapes how she approaches transformation. Grounded in disruptive innovation theory drawn from Clayton Christensen's framework, she treats healthcare change as ecosystem architecture, aligning stakeholders toward shared outcomes that no single sector can achieve alone. She works with national and global leaders across healthcare, education, and technology to advance AI implementation that closes the gap between where care exists and where it is needed.
