About

Andrew Pike obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Mathematics from Oberlin College. Following this, he earned his Master's degree in Entomology from Michigan State University, and his PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His graduate research investigated novel methods to reduce the ability of mosquitoes to spread pathogens such as dengue virus and the malaria parasite through the manipulation of the mosquito immune system and microbiota. Following a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Pike worked as a Microbiology Reviewer at the US Food and Drug Administration before joining HMX as a Harvard Medical School Curriculum Fellow. At HMX, he developed several new courses on advanced immunology topics, such as cancer immunotherapies, chronic inflammatory diseases, and vaccine development. Currently, Dr. Pike is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Oberlin College where he studies the local mosquito and tick populations of northern Ohio.
