Yannis Vlamopoulos 

About

Dr. Yannis Vlamopoulos is an accomplished Urologist at Urologic Center in Lausanne, Switzerland for over a decade. He completed his urology training through rotations at to leading academic institutions, CHUV (#10 worldwide) in Lausanne and HUG in Geneva both internationally recognized centers of excellence. Renowned for his strong ethical standards and deep respect for his patients but also for his human and relationship skills and for his clinical expertise. These qualities contributed to his successful completion of his university training in Urology in 2015. Since then, he has led a thriving private practice at the Urologic Center Lausanne. Under his leadership, the center was recently designated as Switzerland’s 1st Center of Excellence for prostate micro-ultrasound. His work focuses on minimally invasive procedure in the field of prostate cancer, particularly focal therapy, as well as innovative approaches in andrology including the management of erectile dysfunction. Together with his team, he has established two highly regarded regional networks dedicated to prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction, strengthening collaborative care, and improving patient outcomes regionally.  

Dr. Vlamopoulos also pursues a remarkable military career and is currently serving actively in the Swiss Armed Forces as a Lieutenant Colonel and Chief Medical Officer of one of the 4 Territorial Division (Population of around 3 million people and 38 % of the Swiss Territory). 

He is driven by strong academic curiosity and a commitment to continuous medical education. His ongoing education includes certification from Harvard Medical School’s Surgical Leadership Program (Class 2022), Completion of the HMX Pro programs in Cancer Genomics and Immunotherapy (2020) and AI in Healthcare at MIT Sloan School of Management (2020). Most recently, he earned a Master of Science in Clinical Service Operations / Executive leadership pathway from Harvard Medical School (Class 2025/ Cohort 5).  

Dedicated to serve, he is active in the volunteering field, as a Past-President of his Rotary Club during the year 2020-2021 and is currently the District Rotaract Chair for the District 1990. He also spends time defending the political interests of his medical colleagues as a member of the Chamber of the Swiss Medical Association (FMH) (representing 4000 members) and as the Co-president of the Lausanne Medical Association of the SVM (1000 members). He is also an active member of the American Urological Association, the Focal Therapy Society, the European Association of Urology, and the Swiss Urological Association. 

Finally, he has been enrolled as a medical advisor and member of the board of Deeplink.ai, a promising and respected start-up from the EPFL Lausanne, operating in the field of AI (conversational agents) and digital sovereignty.  

Throughout his robust and various professional and military experiences, he learned how to implement a pragmatic and structured approach in the field of crisis management.
