Joshua Lakin
About
Joshua Lakin MD works an attending physician on the palliative care services at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and serves as the Director for the KidneyPal palliative care service dedicated to patients with advanced kidney disease. In these clinical roles, he works as part of an interprofessional team providing palliative care to hospitalized patients across a wide variety of services. In addition to his clinical teaching activities, he currently teaches at the Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care in multiple courses. In terms of academic pursuits, Dr. Lakin works to build scalable and measurable models for delivering palliative care, especially high-quality serious illness communication. He spends his time primarily at the intersection of clinical palliative care and systems work in the Population Health Management and nephrology spaces. He has helped lead programs aimed at improving communication around serious illness in systems around the world.
